Nunchucks
The nunchuka comprises of two sections of wood connected by a length of chain or rope and originated from the Southeast Asia. The exact origins of Nunchucks are unknown, as the myths surrounding this weapon range from the rice/soybean flail used for threshing, through to a modified alarm tool.
As a weapon, nunchucks were unpopular, shown by no original formal katas, however, the popularity of variety of this weapon has grown over the centuries for use in combat, artistry and performance.
The basis of nunchucks is continuous flow, allowing the weilder to effectively defend and strike through every conceivable angle, using a variety of low/high grips and different spins.
Nunchucks can be dual-wielded (not advisable) and are an exceptionally versatile weapon which is implemented as a Kata in our weapons syllabus.
